Day 13- R&R

Today was a nice day off at the Lalonde residence in Calgary. I stocked up on necessary food and gear, satisifed my Coldstone ice cream craving, and took my bike into MEC to get it tuned up after the tough days in the mountains. But to my dismay, they were so overbooked that even with the mechanic working overtime he couldnt work on it until at least tomorrow, meaning I would have to stay an extra day. Luckily Brittany knew a friend named Jocelyn (spelling?) who is a bike mechanic, and she kindly agreed to look at my bike after work. That settled, I finished my shopping at MEC and even replaced my non-functioning solat charger with a much cooler one that actually works. A few more errands later it was time to head home.

After a nice supper and a few rounds of various card games, we headed over to Jocelyn's house where she spent a little while readjusting my bike and getting it ready to continue the journey. It was very nice of her to work on my bike during her time off, and I am very thankful. I really cant stress enough how much the kindness shown by everyone Ive met along this trip has allowed this endeavor to succeed.

The bike felt smooth and ready to go on the short ride back. A little bit of packing, and then its time for bed. The next big leg of the journey begins tomorrow. I am going to start getting up earlier to escape the afternoon heat.
