Slept in this morning to catch up on rest from yesterday. Woke up at around 9 am to the sound of rainfall on my tent. After cooking and packing from the shelter of the pinic area, I hit the road around 10 am.
Right away I noticed my SPOT GPS wasnt working, a problem I unsuccessfully attempted to fix all day long. So if anyone was wondering why you coulsnt track me, thats why.
I can already feel the difference that the reduction in weight from eating has caused; todys ride was noticibly smoother.
Todays ride was filled with beautiful views of plains, forests, and lakes in the vallies of the surrounding mountains. Fantastic riding despite the prevailing rain. Stopped for a late lunch on a side road with a great view of the river valley below.
Arrived in beautiful Hope around 6 and made my way to my kind host's house. Frances and her family have been extremely kind and welcoming, and I am very thankful. After supper we took a hike to a series of old train tunnela known as the Othello Tunnels. They are really cool and surrounded by rocky cliffs and a fast moving river. Beautiful and well worth the hike.
Sadly my GPS refuses to work, and customer service informs me that I need to replace it. Thankly Frances and Racheal have offered to drive me all the way to Vancouver tomorrow to replace it. This is extremely kind of them. This means that I will be taking an unexpected rest day as we sort this out, which is unfortunate, but it is worth it for the sake of my safety and my family's piece of mind.
