Day 5- A Sunday Stroll Up Sunday Summit

I wake up around 7 AM after many hours sleep. After taking advantage of the indoor shower and kitchen I hit the road.

My legs felt surprisingly well rested as I floated through the first 20 KM of downhill and straightaways. I felt confident for today's climb. The problem was that I was freezing! It was below zero with a biting wind when I left, and the sun did nothing to warm me this early in the morning. My fingers were the worst; they actually hurt.

Thankfully I reached the actual climbing section and soon warmed up from the physical effort involved. The climb was definitely difficult, and with beautiful views potentially superior to those of Allison Pass, but it wasnt as hard as I expected. It felt like before I knew it I had reached the summit. My legs were spent from this climb and yesterday's, but it was no where near as bad as Allison Pass.

The climb over, I felt relieved, but still had around 60 KM to Bromley Rock. The terrain began to favour a downhill trend, and as I came down off the mountain the terrain turned from dense forest to more of an arid grassland, with trees more sparse on mountains above. Very scenic in its own way.

I continued this decent, sometimes at a thrilling pace, for many kilometers through the quiet town of Princeton and onto Bromley Rock Provincial Park. Despite the ease of the second half of the day, I was tired both mentally and physically from the last two days and was happy when I finally arrived.

Bromley is a small campground nestled between the highway and a river, and is quite pleasent despite its roadside location.

I am ecstatic and proud of myself for having conquered these last two days. I have biked through some ridiculously tough terrain. I can now comprehend the grimaces and knowing smiles that the mention of biking through Manning Parm elicits from those who have been before me. With the hardest part of the trip behind me, I know I can make it all the way.

Tomorrow promisese to be a very long day of downhill travel to Kelowna. I hear that this section is quite fun, so I look forward to it. I want ice cream when I get there.
